Celebrate the Season at the Islamorada Holiday Fest

There are tons of fun and exciting ways to celebrate the season around the keys-lighted boats and bike rides and parties galore just to name a few. But there’s also one special celebration perfect for the entire family which is sure to please and help you achieve that festive mood. December 7th will mark the 14th Annual Islamorada Holiday Fest. If you haven’t been yet, this could be the year you begin a new family holiday tradition.

This year marks a new change for Holiday Fest, as it has been moved to Founders Park Beach officially. The location was used last year at the last minute, and everyone loved it, so Holiday Fest is now on the beach!

One thing we miss out in the Keys is that quintessential winter element, snow. Most of the time, we are totally ok with not having snow, but there’s something about how snow can enhance a nostalgic, festive feeling to the season. At Holiday Fest, snow is in the forecast! A 30-ton snow mountain will be set up especially for the day; the kids (and parents too) can climb all around and belly-flop down, just as if they were in a winter wonderland.

It wouldn’t be a holiday festival without a huge tree, and this celebration has one; at 35 feet high, the main holiday tree will be all lit up and with its own special snow blowing through the branches.

Plan to take the time to visit the market at the festival. Bring your gift list and check out the Gift Bazaar and Santa’s Sweet Shop for hand crafted treats, artisan crafts, and much more. Get into the spirit of the season by bidding on one of 50 specially designed ornaments made by local artists and sold by silent auction.

The Islamorada Holiday Fest runs from 4:00-10:00 pm, but you’ll want to be sure to be there at 7:00 pm, for what else but the great holiday parade! Themed around the idea of Holiday Magic & Wonder, join the community as antique cars, floats, and the man in red himself, Santa, make their way along the parade route. Want to join in the parade yourself? There may be space left! Find all the details on the Islamorada Chamber of Commerce website.
