Discover Florida Keys Museums & Attractions

It’s summertime in the Florida Keys, and we love to spend our time outside. But even in paradise it can get pretty warm, enough that sometimes you need to take a break from the heat of the beach and seek some different ways to entertain and spend the day. When was the last time you checked out one of the many museums around the Keys? Whether you’re a visitor or resident, there are a variety of museums worth checking out. Everyone is encouraged to do so during the weekend of August 3rd-5th with the Florida Keys Museum & Attractions Weekend.

Monroe County and several community partners are offering reduced and free passes to more than 20 different participating museums and uniquely Florida Keys attractions. This is a great chance to discover something new about our community, history, and region. Get out and enjoy something you have always wanted to try, but haven’t gotten around to yet.

Animal lovers can visit the Dolphin Research Center or Key West Aquarium, and anyone interested in Green Living ideas should stop by the Florida Keys Eco-Discovery Center. Learn about our history at places such as the Pigeon Key Foundation, Lighthouse & Keepers Quarters Museum, and the Florida Keys History & Discovery Center.

Our region has been home to many an incredible character, and you can find out for yourself about some of the people who made life interesting here in their own special way. Check out the Tennessee Williams Museum, Harry S Truman Little Whitehouse, and the Mel Fisher Maritime Museum.

If you want to explore the natural side of the Florida Keys, this special weekend is the perfect time to do so. The Key West Garden Club, Audubon House & Tropical Garden, Key West Tropical Forest & Botanical Garden, and Crane Point Museum & Nature Center are all on the list of participating places to visit during the Florida Keys Museum & Attractions weekend.

Life is wonderful here, and there’s always something exciting to experience and new to discover. If you’ve wanted to get to know the Florida Keys and Key West a bit better, this is a great chance to do so, and a lot of fun, too.
