If there’s one thing we love here in the Florida Keys, it’s a good festival. There’s nothing like a celebration of the good things in life and when it’s done in Keys’ style, it’s even better. You can discover this for yourself when you check out the return of what’s been hailed as one of the best music fests around the islands, the Mile 0 Fest Key West. This marks the second year of this newer festival, where Red Dirt and Americana music will take center stage January 29th through February 2nd in the heart of Key West.
The idea behind Mile 0 Fest is not only to feature the varied and incredible music of Americana/Folk/Country/Red Dirt rock n’ roll, but to provide a range of opportunities for fans to check out the bands and musicians in an intimate setting too, so everyone can get up close and personal with the music. This will be achieved through over 60 bands and 100 performances taking place along Duval Street in Key West; there’ll be dancing in the streets as you take your pick of Duvall Street theaters and bars where shows will be on tap.
In addition to all of these shows, 6 different bands will headline the festival at the Truman Waterfront Park Amphitheater each day of the festival. Purchasing a 1 or 4-day pass will get you a festival wristband which will allow you into the shows, and you can come and go as you please as re-entry is allowed; the producers of Mile 0 Fest Key West want everyone to have a great time and see all the performances they can. Just be sure to check out the main FAQ page on the festival website as the Truman Waterfront Park venue does have some special rules to follow, such as no dogs, umbrellas or canopies are allowed.
Mike & the Moonpies, Trampled by Turtles, Band of Heathens, Reckless Kelly, Jamie Watt, Bonnie Bishop, Stoney Larue and Kevin Fowler.
If you’re new to the Red Dirt/Americana music scene, Mile 0 Fest Key West is the perfect way to dip your toes in for a new experience. This genre has been gaining in popularity over recent years, as evidenced by the amazing, instant success of the first Mile 0 Fest. Think of your favorite acoustic blue grass, country, folk and southern rock music then meld them together in different expressions of an American music experience. It may seem a bit complicated to define, but when you hear it, you’ll know it, and like so many others, fall in love with this expressive genre of musical sounds.
So, get your pass to Mile 0 Fest Key West, and stroll down Duval Street for a weekend of incredible entertainment.
